How to Get Involved!
If you are a student attending Shaw Middle School, here is your chance to get involved with an exciting programthe Coaching for College Program!
What makes Coaching for College so great?
Coaching for College offers you one-on-one tutoring AND mentoring every Saturday! You will be matched with TWO outstanding tutors who will take turns meeting with you every week! That's right each student is assigned two tutors!
You will meet with one of your tutors each Saturday, from 10 AM until 12 PM. During this time you will review homework, work on special assignments, or spend extra time on those more difficult subjects. Coaches are also prepared to help you get organized and work with you to keep you on target throughout the school year!
Why do homework on a Saturday?
Think of homework on a Saturday as getting a running start before the BIG race! Your time spent with a tutor will give you a head start on the week- your tutor will help you catch up when youre behind, stay on track when you have everything under control, and get ahead when youre ready to take on new challenges!
What else does Coaching for College offer?
While homework is important, Coaching for College is not just about homework. We provide fun and exciting field trips and activities for our students and coaches.
Ok, So What Do I Have to Do?
All you have to do is BE COMMITTED! Committed to coming EVERY week and committed to coming prepared to learn on Saturday morning. Make sure to bring your homework, books, assignments and anything else you need to work on with your tutor. If you cant make it, you MUST call your tutor and let him/her know ahead of time.
